What happened last night...

So, last night being St. Paddy's day and all, my husband and I hit the town with ideas of a fun-filled night ahead of us.
What really happened...
We went to the movies and the movie we wanted to see wasn't being shown. Instead some Chevy Chase box office loser was being shown instead. We didn't go.
We drove to downtown Corvallis. Did we want dessert or drinks? Eh, didn't matter. We wandered around and talked with people whom we know who were also looking for fun.
We ended up with dessert at New Morning (expensive, bus your own tables, follow our rules)bakery. It was OK, but nothing notably spectacular. After dessert, we went for a drive. I always try to talk my husband into "parking," but it's usually not in the stars...dang. Anyway, we needed to get gas (petrol), so we stopped at the Chevron on 9th st. While there, a little blind schipperke was wandering through the station and was getting dangerously close to 9th st. We walked the neighborhood with him, hoping to find his family, but no luck. We drove him over to Willamette Vet. Hospital where they have a 24hr doctor on duty. They took the little doggie in and said that he would be at Heartland Humane Society by Monday. Today we had a phone call from Heartland and he was already there. It turns out that this little doggie is about 12 years old and probably not high on the list of wanted to adopt dogs. We went to visit him today and put a "do not kill" tag on him. If his family doesn't show up, I think we'll be his new family.... just what we need... a 12 year old blind dog.
Since he came into our lives on St. Patricks day, I've already named him Patrick...but I think we'll call him Paddy.
Partying isn't the same when you're over 40 : ) You go out for beers and end up with a blind schipperke.

I really think they should have the Rhapsody in the Vineyard wine walk every other Saturday. What a great way to explore downtown, clutching a wine glass. ;)

I am eager to try Sahalie, the new wine bar. They have fondue! Fondue makes me oddly happy.

Ahhh...romance.
Before my "current" husband sold his older pick-up, I told him we needed to make sure we "parked" before it was sold...just sort of leave it full of good memories. Alas, we didn't. Now, 5 years later, we haven't even "parked" the new truck either!

Aw, you're good people. Post a pic of the pooch if possible.

Hi C! I think you're right on about the wine walk. I've never been on one myself, but maybe I can make it happen next time 'round. My problem is... I never read the GT when all the info is out there : )

Hey BW! That truck hasn't been broken in yet?? I'm surprised ; )

Anon! Thanks for the nice words and I will post if he comes home with us.

How nice... the poor dog.

Our neighbors have a Schiperke (sp?) and it is the meanest, most malicious little shit! I've tried over 3 times to pet it and say hi but it barks nonstop and any time Tippy or I walks past its door it barks like it's ready to kill.

The owners choke it to shut it up.

Hope Paddy ends up at your place.

Hi Crall,
It's been a long time since I've written you. I wasn't certain if this breed of dog was friendly or not... though, this one seemed friendly enough : )You've probably already seen my latest post and the doggie is on his way back home (thankfully!)

I agree with the Corvallist about the wine walk, in that it's really fun, and you see people you know, even though I didn't get to go on this one. Darn. My cupboard is pretty full of the Vinyards glasses, but I wanted the 150 years glass.

My Dear Darling and I usually just go see whatever's at the Darkside Theater that we haven't already seen, but Saturday, being all warm and sunny, we went to Philomath to The Woodsman with our neighbor and enjoyed beer and sun and had lunch, too.
